- Thank you for the amazing response and purchases from my wonderful customer friends and followers! Everything in my store is sold out for the moment! My sincere thank you! Unfortunately I can't re-stock before Christmas, but don't worry, I'm going to return on January 9th. (please read further).
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all you wonderful people!
Sincerely
Leo
⚠️SHOP ON VACATION⚠️
- The shop will be temporarily closed from December 22 to January 9. Leo needs a much needed break from his work to go visit his parents and celebrate Christmas with them.
Even so, don't hesitate to toss me any questions and orders/or reservations if you like. I will be glad to answer during my break and give you every information you need!
⚠️SPINETS ON HOLD
- The new 1:12 scale spinets project will be put on hold for now and will be pushed back to early 2022. Again, sorry for the delay. Send a message in case you want to make a reservation.
⚠️ITALIAN HARPSICHORDS ON HOLD
- The release of the new 1:12 Italian single manual with outer case will also be pushed back to the end of February. I'm really sorry if you've been waiting for its release, but I got very busy with life stuff and couldn't finish as planned. Hopefully things will get more stable for me soon and I'll have more time to work.
📌Favorite the shop to receive news whenever I make an announcement or a new listing so you don't miss anything.
✨WHAT'S COMING UP ON 2022✨ (Updated in December 2021)
📌 New and improved model Harpsichords, spinets and a new Virginal model.
Expect more realistic, more authentic, more robust and much better quality models overall. I invested heavily on new equipment and tools. I renovated my shop among other improvements and hundreds of building processes so that I can produce the best possible miniatures in the new year!
📌MILESTONE EDITION HARPSICHORD- Serial Number #100 milestone special edition. Listing date to be announced. Send me a message to be included in the mail list! You will receive the release date and hour (UTC/GMT) by email before everyone else. If you are a previous buyer you don't need to send me any emails, you will be notified.
📌MILESTONE EDITION SERIES - A special series of miniatures commemorating 10 years of Leo Cerante workshop will be released in August 2022! Get ready!
📌More miniature harpsichords output.
You can expect a greater volume of items made per month as I cut out hundreds of inefficient processes off the manufacturing line by using new tools and improved machinery. More on that soon over at this blog.
📌New website (for shopping and cataloging)
I'm currently looking into making a new website so that you can place custom orders and shop directly. This website will also function as my official miniature catalog.

Description of this batch:
Functions - It features a hinged lid that you can open and close; a support stick to keep the lid open, a beautiful mini music desk that you can rest on the chapiteau (or jack rail) and a little bench that comes in the same style of the stand. The seat has a beautiful cushion where your musician can seat and play comfortably!
Strength/quality - The basic miniature structure is made of hard resin (among many other materials as you can see further) with 1.2mm steel ‘rebar’ skeleton embedded inside which guarantees its durability and strength. In addition to that the legs and the stand are joined together by 2.2mm screws and steel pins to make it even sturdier. The support stick, the music desk, the feet and the stand beams are also reinforced with steel rebar. (you can check with a magnet) The lid was very carefully mounted with four 1,2mm rivets and cemented with glue.
The strings despite looking delicate are coated with enamels and cleverly installed/glued guaranteeing its integrity.
The outer shell, the soundboard and the lid were painted with high quality enamels and A-grade Dutch artist’s paints and sealed with shellac and UV-resistance varnish.
By the way, the entire miniature is made by hand! No automation, no CNC, no 3D printing. Everything is manually done, so minor imperfections might occur.
Authenticity and looks - The lid painting is a unique miniature re-creation of historical golden age Dutch painters and was individually painted by hand. I implemented mixed brushing techniques combining water color techniques, washes, glazing and many other effects to simulate a genuine miniature oil painting that looks very realistic.
The soundboard was decorated with the same exact technique as their real counterparts (I say that because I also work on real instruments).
The keyboard was constructed to scale and features authentic sharp (#) keys with its typical double layer (wood and bone*) with rounded front edges. (*imitation)

#088 - 1:12 Scale model double harpsichord, French style on a cabriole-legged stand, with hand-painted 17th century Dutch style landscape, Aqua inspired by 17th Century painter Nicolaes Berchem
This is a miniature of a French style double harpsichord.
It features a very authentic keyboard area with realistic looking keys (on scale) and a nicely detailed gold chamfered name-board with the year of construction written on it. (Highly collectible); it also features a decorated hand-painted jack rail (or chapiteau as called in french by harpsichord builders) with leaves and flowers.
Additionally it has a very eye catching stand with hand-painted golden foliage and flowers that looks at the same time lush and austere because it changes it's look depending of the light reflection. Very unique.
- The lid painting is a miniature adaptation done by Leonardo Cerante of 17th century golden age Dutch painter Nicolaes Berchem (1620-1683) from his work Gezicht op Loenen aan de Vecht met kasteel Kronenburg (The View of Loenen and the river Vecht with the castle of Kronenburg) and was carefully and individually painted by hand with special techniques developed by himself and thorough attention to details. It depicts the old village of Loenen with a very poignant cloudy sky with a light penetrating the scene from the right side, a very calm river reflecting the light of the Castle tower and a pastoral scene (with livestock) in the foreground. A typical 17th century Dutch golden age painting theme that contrasts wonderfully with its luxurious exterior and the shiny metal strings and the lush flower arrangements on its soundboard. Its soundboard is also decorated with flowers and a crowned rosette painted by hand.
The stand was decorated with very delicate golden flower arrangements on a satin aqua background creating a very baroquey contrast.
