Description:
Development began in August 2020. The entire design and construction methods were overhauled (from my previous 1:15 models). From the drawing board to the basic construction processes I took apart each and every part of it and began from zero. I reviewed my previous techniques and opted to change even the basic staple materials that I had been so accustomed to work with.
This change required me to adapt and come up with a whole new set of processes. But what changed?
- The new materials I use now are much more durable, harder and resistant. It got quite a bit heavier too, which is good. Each part now has an internal structure that acts the same way as a rebar. It prevents the part to distort or warp due to mechanical stress and high temperatures.
- Legs and stands are now mounted with screws. The glue acts merely as an extra insurance measure.
- The new keywell area is much more realistic than previously. For one, the new white keys are more authentic to their real life counterparts featuring a double layer of wood and bone (imitation) on top. The papering is also a new addition. I've used exactly the same papering design as the historical harpsichords from the Franco-Flemish schools.
- Lids, support sticks and desks are now detachable. They were previously fixed into place with glue, but now you have the option to take apart and even display it with the lid closed or without lid. (The lids are not on hinges though. This feature is planned for the future.) This change allows the miniature to be shipped even more securely and safely tucked inside the box.

- Lastly the most obvious thing. They are bigger (and more realistic). It's compatible with traditional dollhouse scale (1:12) and will look fantastic on a shelf or display case.
- I've implemented high quality enamels, UV resistant coating and A- grade Dutch gouache temperas.
- Every part was thoroughly researched resulting in a high fidelity model harpsichord.
- The lid paintings are authentic miniature re-creations of historical golden age Dutch painters.
- Legs and stand beams are reinforced with metal pins, screws and "rebar", 1.2mm steel wire embedded inside as shown.
- The strings are coated with enamel to prevent darkening
- The soundboards are coated with shellac just like their real counterparts.
